AMBER

A transparent to translucent fossil resin that was exuded from certain pine trees, particularly Pinis Succinefere, which fluorished in Oligocene times more than 40 million years ago. It is usually yellowish or brownish, but could be red, bluish or greenish (very rare). Sometimes Amber contains the remains of insects or plants, (Inclusions) and is more valuable. The best are from the southern shores of the Baltic Sea in Poland.
