TurquoiseA semi translucent to opaque mineral species, the most important of the non transparent gem materials. The most valuable color is intense medium-light to medium blue.
Some of the properties attributed to this stone are: creative expression, emotional balance, attracts abundance, communication, friendship; vitalizes blood, nervous , lungs and respiratory system.
It is one of the oldest materials used as a gemstone by man. The word turquoise is probably derived from the French for “Turkish stone” because much of turquoise that came to Europe in the early days came through Turkey primarily from mines in Egypt and Persia. The oldest known turquoise mines are in the Sinai Peninsula, between present day Egypt and Israel.
